European Medicines Agency Improves User Experience with Nimsoft Monitoring Solution
Nimsoft Provides Application Monitoring Services for Proactive Problem Resolution
Redwood City, Calif. – November 17, 2009 – Nimsoft, the first provider of Unified Monitoring™ solutions, today announced the European Medicines Agency (EMEA) is using the Nimsoft Monitoring Solution (NMS) to monitor its entire network infrastructure.
A decentralized body of the European Union with headquarters in London, EMEA’s main responsibility is to protect and promote public and animal health through the evaluation and supervision of medicines for human and veterinary use. NMS allows the IT staff to proactively address potential network issues and ultimately improve the user’s experience with applications and services.
NMS is deployed across the agency’s datacenter, a multi-platform environment of roughly 500 servers, 2 firewall clusters and about 120 other network elements. As a government agency, EMEA must conform to strict regulations for service levels, availability and performance.
Prior to deploying NMS, EMEA was using an off-the-shelf monitoring solution from a different vendor, but it did not perform service management reporting or provide the capabilities needed to ensure application performance. The existing solution was also difficult to use and not customizable.
“Before deploying Nimsoft, we had no visibility into application performance issues, and could only address problems with the hardware,” said Oscar Diez, section head at the EMEA datacenter. “NMS allows us to simulate the user experience to proactively identify and address potential issues with applications, before we receive complaints from our users.
NMS also enables us to create customizable dashboards and reports quickly and easily, eliminating much of the manual tasks previously required to use our scorecard system.”
Currently, EMEA is using NMS to monitor its entire infrastructure, including its servers, switches, routers, applications and the interfaces and traffic to and from roughly 50 other National Competent Agencies.
“Nimsoft delivers comprehensive, full-featured monitoring solutions that are easy to use and manage, and provide great visibility into all aspects of a company’s IT infrastructure,” said Gary Read, CEO at Nimsoft. “NMS helps large organizations like EMEA ensure availability and performance, improve user satisfaction, and eliminate much of the time spent troubleshooting network issues. This eliminates downtime and will save the EMEA IT organization time and money in the long-term by freeing up resources to focus on developing and improving services.”
