BrainLAB Ensures Optimal Performance of Services and Applications with Nimsoft Monitoring Solution
Software Innovator Consolidates Multiple Tools with NMS, Saves on Management and Administration
Redwood City, Calif. – October 12, 2009 – Nimsoft, Inc., the "Big 4" alternative for IT performance and availability monitoring solutions, today announced that BrainLAB has deployed the Nimsoft Monitoring Solution (NMS) in its main datacenter in Germany.
BrainLAB is one of the leaders in software-driven systems for targeted, less-invasive medical treatments. NMS is being used to monitor the company’s servers and applications, ensuring optimal performance of business-critical systems. BrainLAB will be replacing multiple monitoring tools with Nimsoft.
BrainLAB’s main datacenter in Germany houses a mixed platform environment consisting of physical and virtual servers. By deploying NMS, BrainLAB can monitor all of its hardware and applications to ensure delivery of service-level agreements (SLAs), minimize downtime and perform proactive mitigation of potential network and system problems.
“NMS is very modular and flexible,” said Steffen Kammerer, Manager of IT Infrastructure at BrainLAB. “We can deploy clients and perform updates automatically, use scripts to customize our own probes, and monitor SLAs on all of our systems with a single tool. Plus, we can control everything from a centralized location with a user-friendly interface."
"The NMS architecture enables us to deploy the solution to datacenters in Hong Kong and Chicago, and control it from our headquarter in Germany. This helps us cut operational and administrative costs significantly, while ensuring optimal performance on our servers, networking devices and applications.”
NMS monitors the BrainLAB SharePoint portal, MS Exchange environment and its software development environment, which have interdependencies. IT administrators receive an alarm if an issue arises, enabling proactive risk mitigation before an issue takes down multiple systems or affects customers.
The company is also working on implementing an escalation concept to automate the process of alarming specific individuals on a “needs-to-know” basis. This will eliminate many manual tasks and increase response time to network and system issues.
“The modularity and flexibility of NMS is well suited to the diverse and expanding IT environment of BrainLAB, and will enable the company to cut costs and save time,” said Gary Read, CEO of Nimsoft. “BrainLAB is taking advantage of this flexibility by customizing the Nimsoft probes as their requirements evolve.”
BrainLAB expects to roll out NMS in three other datacenters within the next two years.
