Foodstuffs South Island Gains Visibility, Reduces Complexity with Nimsoft

NMS provides a unified view of infrastructure health and performance for easy troubleshooting

Redwood City, Calif. – September 28, 2009 – Nimsoft, Inc., the "Big 4" alternative for IT performance and availability monitoring solutions, today announced that Foodstuffs South Island, one of the three regional co-operatives that collectively make up New Zealand's largest grocery distributor, has deployed the Nimsoft Monitoring Solution (NMS) across 100 of its core production servers. NMS provides monitoring of these services, giving Foodstuffs' IT staff increased visibility into the health of its infrastructure and a central repository of performance information and service data. The solution simplifies compliance and troubleshooting, and provides a single, integrated view of Foodstuffs' IT environment.

The company's diverse IT infrastructure is comprised of Windows, VMware, and IBM AIX and AS 400s. To simplify network monitoring and troubleshooting, technical staff needed a solution that provided a single view into the health of all systems in the network.

"Nimsoft offers broad coverage with support for all operating systems, VMware, Microsoft SQL and DB2, and it provides tremendous visibility into our core production servers," said Gary Cowens, IT Operations Services Manager at Foodstuffs South Island. "The scalable solution will grow with our organization and offers the right feature set for our business environment. It also provides us the flexibility to customize dashboards and reporting, which makes it easier to understand and report on the performance of our infrastructure to management."

Taking a staged approach, Foodstuffs South Island plans to roll out NMS across its entire infrastructure after creating customized dashboards that provide a high-level business-centric view of its systems and services. During phase two of the NMS deployment, Foodstuffs South Island will implement alerting functions to warn administrators of potential problems. Monitoring and alerting will focus on business services as well as the infrastructure to ensure service levels comply with the ITIL framework for IT infrastructure best practices.

"By deploying NMS, Foodstuffs South Island is already seeing the benefits of our integrated monitoring solution," said Gary Read, Nimsoft President and CEO. "As they roll out the full feature set of the solution, customizable dashboards and reporting will provide even greater visibility and productivity gains. Instead of deciphering complicated point-solutions that monitor different parts of the infrastructure, staff will be able to get the information they need from a single interface that is easy to understand. These capabilities will improve uptime and create IT efficiencies, allowing staff to focus on other mission-critical tasks and not waste time troubleshooting systems."
