Nimsoft Delivers Enterprise-Class Cluster Monitoring to Microsoft Exchange Environments

State Government Healthcare Agency Hails NimBUS for Saving the Organization Tens of Thousands of Dollars and Providing New Levels of Control

Redwood City, Calif. - June 14, 2007 – Nimsoft Inc., an emerging leader of service level management (SLM) solutions, today announced the availability of a monitoring and management solution that enables customers to proactively manage multi-node cluster environments for Microsoft Exchange. NimBUS for Microsoft Exchange Cluster extends the NimBUS for Microsoft Exchange software suite, which now delivers four levels of in-depth intelligence and dynamic visibility for complete, proactive monitoring and management of mission-critical Microsoft environments. NimBUS for Microsoft Exchange Cluster eases the management of service level agreements in high availability environments, delivering flexibility of ongoing management, increasing application performance for end users and lowering the costs associated with enterprise-class clustering.

Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System Network Administrator Eric Royce noted that NimBUS for Microsoft Exchange Cluster enabled him to save tens of thousands of dollars by increasing the utilization of several Dell servers that were nearing end-of-life. NimBUS advanced monitoring features provided Royce, a Compaq and Microsoft Certified cluster administrator, the ability to simplify and automate the management of his five-node cluster environment.

 “Monitoring clusters can be challenging since each server may be assigned to perform either singular or multiple services, which requires your solution to transfer multiple service variables seamlessly during a failover,” said Royce. “NimBUS for Microsoft Exchange Cluster delivers a notice for each stage of the fail over, assurance that it occurred as planned. Now, I am sure that my quality of service data is consistent across the entire cluster. The advanced features bring new levels of control and automation I never had in managing clusters with other monitoring solutions.”

NimBUS for Microsoft Exchange Cluster provides customers the ability to proactively control key system checkpoints in active/active, active/passive and N+1 clusters. NimBUS for Microsoft Exchange Cluster establishes a system awareness of the cluster and manages the assigned services during a failover. Customers can now manage critical email functions and processes in real time and systematically evaluate the status of service level agreements in multi-node, high availability environments.

Four Levels of Complete, Proactive Monitoring

In addition to the monitoring of multi-node clusters, NimBUS for Microsoft Exchange software suite offers three additional levels of proactive monitoring and management. All data is collected, analyzed and generated through Web-based real time alerting, performance trend reporting and service level agreement reporting.

  1. To help ensure that the email system is available and highly optimized, NimBUS monitors the performance integrity of the server’s CPU, disk, memory, critical processes, event logs, and dozens of other critical checkpoints.
  2. NimBUS also provides end user experience monitoring with end-to-end response times from the client to the server for email send and receive functions.
  3. In-depth auditing of Microsoft Exchange systems enables customers to maximize their investment in existing resources and police the users of the email system, including users’ email activity, mailboxes and public folders. Audits of the utilization of the Microsoft Exchange database, including capacity, availability and performance, are also monitored.
