Nimsoft expands into cloud environments as Unified Monitoring strategy takes shape Nimsoft is putting a pretty significant stake in the ground for cloud management in this release. It's so far the most comprehensive offering we've come across for monitoring public and private cloud environments. While the true market for this technology has not really arrived yet (beyond managing virtual servers in context of physical servers, which many vendors support), Nimsoft figures to be well positioned for when it does. In the meantime, the company appears to be back on a strong growth trajectory and continues to aggressively court, and win, new business from service providers. Nimsoft scoops up dissolving Cittio's WatchTower assets Nimsoft has acquired the source code and IP of Cittio's WatchTower network management application, giving it another piece of the IT management puzzle, in this case network topology discovery and mapping, monitoring and root cause analysis. Nimsoft will integrate the technology into its existing availability and performance monitoring software. Cittio has ceased operations and is dissolving, leaving its remaining WatchTower customers in the cold and its open source Project Zeppelin, for cloud monitoring, in limbo. Read the article... With monitoring going strong, Nimsoft lays out roadmap for BSM Express This second execution on the Indicative buy (Nimsoft brought out a real-user monitor in 2008) is a strong play, building out Nimsoft's monitoring heritage in a reasonable way. The company makes the point that pure plays around business service management (BSM) have struggled. If customers can buy this functionality from their monitoring vendor, the argument goes: why wouldn't they? The 451 Group can't help seeing the whole argument in the context of a larger move toward coexistence of virtual and physical servers, both needing to be monitored, and a longer-term cloud-computing play.
