Hitachi Relies on Nimsoft to Monitor and Manage Cloud Computing Environments
Monitoring Sophistication in Virtual Environments Enables Managed Service Provider to Deliver New Monitoring Service to Customers
Redwood City, Calif. – September 08, 2009 – Nimsoft, the alternative to Big 4
IT performance and availability monitoring solutions, today announced that Hitachi Software Engineering has employed the Nimsoft Monitoring Solution (NMS) to monitor its cloud computing infrastructure.
Hitachi Software Engineering is a major subsidiary of the IT service division of Hitachi Limited. One of the company’s key service offerings is SecureOnline. First unveiled in early 2007, SecureOnline is a flexible platform that enables customers to pay on a monthly basis for the infrastructure they need, and easily expand or reduce the services available as business needs changed.
Monitoring this dynamic, virtualized environment plays a vital role in ensuring the high levels of availability and performance that Hitachi’s customers demand. With its broad infrastructure coverage and tight integration with VMware, Nimsoft is able to provide insights into SecureOnline’s virtualized infrastructure, and all the components that underpin it.
In addition, with its agentless deployment, NMS makes it practical for Hitachi to monitor clients’ applications and services running on their virtual machines. As a result, Hitachi is able to offer this new monitoring capability as a service to its clients.
“Having one platform to monitor both our virtualized and non-virtualized systems is vital,” said Teruo Nakamura, General Manager of Security Service Division at Hitachi Software. “Nimsoft enables us to meet and even exceed the performance and service levels our customers demand. The flexible monitoring solution is easy to set up and manage and enables us to adapt to our customers’ changing needs.”
The Nimsoft solution makes it fast and efficient to do monitoring configuration, ongoing administration, and reporting, so Hitachi enjoys greater staff productivity and reduced administrative costs. The company is also able to provide detailed, insightful reports on infrastructure performance; if a customer inquires about an outage or performance issue, staff can quickly and knowledgeably confirm the source of the issue.
“As the cloud computing paradigm gains increased acceptance, IT teams are quickly learning that the dynamic, constantly evolving nature of these environments creates some critical challenges from a monitoring perspective,” explained Gary Read, president and CEO of Nimsoft.
“The Nimsoft solution is uniquely suited to address these challenging environments, and we’re proud that Hitachi, one of the early adopters of cloud computing, relies on us to effectively monitor and manage their infrastructure.”
