Darpan Thanki
Software Engineering Manager
Baroda, India
It will soon be a year of working at Nimsoft. From my experience, I think I’ve got a pretty solid feel of what it’s like to work in a product group at Nimsoft.
Here’s my personal perspective on what has it been like for working at Nimsoft.
To introduce myself, my name is Darpan Thanki, and I started as Manager – Software Engineering and am part of a dedicated engineering team based in India who works exclusively on the Nimsoft Service Desk product. Originally, I come from InteQ a hosted ITSM vendor which Nimsoft acquired in December 2010.
So what is my job at Nimsoft?
There are three core roles in the product development team – Program Manager, Software Development Engineer and Software Testing Engineer. My primary responsibility is to provide architectural and technical guidance to product development. This involves ensuring sound engineering design, process and quality practices are followed. At the same time, I also engage in hands-on programming, in-depth analysis, review and design of software, including technical review and analysis of source code.

In my view, to succeed at Nimsoft you need to be creative, talented, and hard working. And obviously not everyone fits the bill. Quite apparently it has been the right place to engage myself in doing good work, learn and grow my career.
#1: Result-Oriented People
All employees as well as my co-workers at Nimsoft are an energetic bunch of people. The enthusiasm, passion, as well as the result oriented attitude of people drives them towards getting things done and meeting priorities and deadlines set for their deliverables.
#2: Customer Focus
As much as I enjoyed working with InteQ, and having moved over to Nimsoft I realize that it has been an extremely smooth transition, while I continue to carry the benefits of working with a team that is increasingly talented and forward thinking. The product development team at Nimsoft is quick, nimble, collaborative, and highly responsive to customer demands and ensuring customer satisfaction.
#3: Agile Workplace Culture
Every day brings new things to explore and learn, you are surrounded by passionate people you can share your ideas with and be a part of creating the next generation of software. It truly creates a challenging, enjoyable, and a high-quality working environment.
#4: Personal Freedom
For the most part, I determine what I work on and when I will get it done. There are exceptions — tasks others ask you to do for them, external deadlines or dependencies — but these goals are set cooperatively with your management and coworkers, taking into account your interests and abilities.
#5: Mature Leadership
It’s refreshing to work at a company where you can trust that the upper management is smart, hardworking, and making right decisions. I don’t have to worry that my manager, director, or the vice president will drive our division (or company) into the ground through incompetence or greed.
To a large extent it has been an amazing journey with Nimsoft. Looking back what the company and its people have achieved thus far is simply astounding.
